Placed in the North coast of S. Miguel Island, by the seaside, Casa das Calhetas is a house from the early years of the 18th century. With a manor house architecture it has been since it’s early days a Morgados House (nobel aristhocracy). The impressive Atlantic Ocean and the well known Lagoa do Fogo Mountain can be viewed from the Northeast balcony. On the other side of the house, the Southeast views show both the only cloister convent in the Azores and the house gardens. It’s simple but careful decoration reveals the taste of the wealth houses in Azorean rural reality.
